Giant of History Fly In - Aviodrome - the Netherlands 2007

During the weekend of 1 and 2 September many Giants in all sorts and measurements will visit the Dutch Aviation Theme park and Museum Aviodrome. Two themes will be put in the spotlights, The Second World War and Civil Aviation.
When thought of giants in aviation, one may think of large aircraft like the Boeing 747 that was first built in 1969 or large four engine passenger aircraft that flew all over the world after WWII like the Douglas DC-4 Skymaster, the Douglas DC-6 and the Lockheed Constellation. But smaller aircraft can also been seen as giants of history, for example the Douglas DC-3 that still is the most built aircraft in history until this day.

Giants
A great variety in giants will visit the Aviodrome, located on Lelystad Airport, during the weekend of 1 and 2 September. Some of the Giants are inhibitors of the museum, like the DC-2, F.27 and the Catalina PBY, others will fly in from places all over Europe. From England the Air Atlantique DC-6 will be welcomed, a Dakota in both Air France and KLM colours will visit from France and from Scandinavia the P51 Old Crow and A26 can be admired. But Dutch historic aircraft will fly in as well, for example a P51 Mustang, the B25 Mitchell of the Duke Of Brabant Air Force and the MH-1521 Broussard.
Visitors of the Aviodrome will be given the opportunity to photograph or film the aircraft at close range. In addition to the Second World War theme, living history actors from the group Allied Air Forces will perform in military costumes and a number of original vehicles of the Green Sparks will be present during the whole weekend. Actors of the Historic Consultancy Agency will show visitors how passengers looked in the 30?s in front of the replica of the terminal that was located on Schiphol Airport from 1928 until it was bombed by the Allied Forces in WWII.

Big Band
To make the celebration of history and historic aircraft complete a hangar party and concert will be held in the Aviodrome RAF T2 hangar. The Bill Baker Big Band will perform Glenn Miller music and will be dressed in historic outfits. This, together with the B25 in the background, will bring visitors back in time.

100 Year Anniversary of the KNVvL
The Dutch Association Of Air sports (KNVvL) will celebrate their 100 year anniversary during this weekend by demonstrating a number of air sports such as paragliding, gliding and micro light aircraft.
