Connie’s Come Back - the Netherlands 2002
After many years of work in the Arizona dessert and a flight that took two week, the Lockheed Constellation N749NL from the Dutch National Aviation Museum Aviodome has arrived in the Netherlands.
During the flight from Manston England to Lelystad the Constellation was escorted by an Orion of the Dutch Navy and a Fokker 50 of KLM.
I was so lucky to be on the flight of the Fokker 50 and got take beautiful pictures of the Connie.
After a short flight above Schiphol airport and the Island Texel the Connie flew to Lelystad airport. At 13.00 sharp the Connie arrived in Lelystad. Thousand of people welcomed Captain Frank Lang and the Crew.
At the end of this day the Connie started up again and departed for Schiphol Airport, where the restoration will continue.
You can see the Connie and many more in the winter of 2003 at the brand new Aviation Theme Park named ‘Aviodrome’.
The brand new aviation theme park will be opened at Lelystad Airport, close to Amsterdam.
